About Mark Gould

Mark Gould

In a nutshell, I’m a Maine web designer, videographer, photographer and writer.  Fluent in multimedia, I’m comfortable wearing many different hats to create new media solutions for small businesses.

My interest in technology has always been broad, and for a while, I thought that was a bad thing. As a college senior, I worried I’d have to specialize in one medium to land a good job.

Lucky for me, the web continues to weave a wild mess of interconnectedness, drawing seemingly unrelated mediums closer together. Turns out, it’s not so bad to have lots of interests!

Because of my varied skill set, I’ve had some fun and exciting opportunities.  After graduating from Saint Michael’s College in 2008, I served as the web editor for the Burlington Free Press, Vermont’s largest newspaper.  During my second year at the Free Press, I was thrilled to have an opportunity to return to my alma mater to teach journalism and mass communication at Saint Michael’s College.

In January of 2010, I created Mark Gould Media and began taking on freelance work of all sorts.  By looking at all aspects of a company’s web presence, I strive to offer advice that other narrowly-focused marketers might miss.  From video production and photography to copywriting to web marketing to SEO, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some great clients.  I’ve helped many small businesses start or enhance their web presence and I’d love to help you, too.

I’m proud of the work I’ve done, but since no one knows the future of the web, I want to stress that I’m a life-long learner. Many of the talents I’ve developed have been a result of a personal quest to expand my skills. I believe that when the world changes, it changes fast, and it’s my mission to be ready for whatever is next.

I recently moved to Portland, Maine where I work at emg3, an event marketing agency.  When I’m not knee deep in code, I love to get outside and hike, snowshoe and enjoy the beauty that is New England.
